Further Information

A visit is normally required to assess the work and to take into account potential problems with access for vehicles and equipment, or the presence of cables above or below ground that may demand special action.  A specification is discussed with the client which is then submitted with a quotation which is free of charge. 


We have the following insurances in place:-

  • Employers’ Liability insurance to £10M
  • Public Liability to £5M
  • Professional Indemnity to £250,000 for advice in relation to the health of trees
  • Plant insurance for machinery and equipment
  • Fleet policy for vehicles


Our staff only carry out work for which they have been trained and where they have the appropriate knowledge and experience.  They undertake continual training and updates in order to maintain a high level of professionalism.  The land-based training courses undertaken are either LANTRA or NPTC and cover:-

  • Chainsaw work on the ground and in the tree
  • Climbing and aerial rescue
  • Technical rigging for tree and limb removal (for further information on rigging  click here )
  • The processing of brushwood by means of a brushwood chipper
  • The use of stump grinding machines

Other qualifications cover specialist machinery or operations such as the use of:-

  • Lifting and loading machinery eg skidsteer loader, timber crane, telehandler
  • Access platforms
  • Road and highway signage
  • Pesticides & herbicides

In addition, all operatives regularly attend Emergency First Aid at Work courses.

Best Practice

  • All tree surgery work is undertaken to British Standard 3998 : 2010
  • We comply with Health and Safety regulations and adopt the guidelines in our working practice
  • Risk Assessments and Method Statements are prepared prior to work commencing
  • We comply with Environment Agency regulations concerning arisings from tree surgery operations and have a current  Waste Carriers' Licence 
  • All the by-products of our tree work are recycled either as logs to local customers or as biomass for power stations
  • We are mindful of the potential environmental impact of our work, in particular with regard to nesting birds and the presence of other protected species
